No class Sunday!

On Sunday, the tournament registration starts at 10 a.m. at 1430 Cedar Street, in Clarksville Indiana.  The participation fee is $40, with an additional $5 for extra events you want to compete in.  You can call me at 812-207-5814, or the host at 502-802-8539

Fighters, you will want to make sure you have head, hands, mouth, and groin (for boys.)  I highly recommend having elbow, shin/feet as well.  Chest is more than likely optional, but also recommended.

This tournament is mixed style, mixed ages, and ranks.  This means all are welcome to compete!  Please be respectful to other instructors, saying “yes ma’am” and “yes sir” to ANYONE wearing a black belt.  Regardless of age.  If you don’t want to compete, you may watch!  I would encourage everyone to stop by and watch.  I’ll be there (possibly judging a few events.)  Feel free to ask me questions, or ask anyone questions!  Tournaments are always a lot of fun!

Be safe as well.  This area will have people doing flips, advanced kicks, and practicing with weapons before their competitions.  Be extra careful where you walk, and make sure you don’t stumble into someone’s training space!

Black belts.  If you participate, the registration will ask you what style you practice.  As a reminder (which you hopefully all know by now) our style is Taekwondo.  They may ask what “dan” you are.  The appropriate response is 1st.  Say “First Dan”.  Which is pronounced like dawn.  I’ve structured your education so that upon reaching black belt, you’ll have the equivalent exposure as a first degree in other taekwondo schools.

On Saturday, april 14th, we will be practicing kicking drills. Two different stations. One for power, one for precision and speed.

We will then switch it to hands, making sure we have good coverage.  Next week, after the tournament, I’m going to start working on my students’ cores again.

Another black belt has voiced a desire to have more ranks…some additional way to advance.  I’m working on a system that allows for more advancement.  This may include “specialty” patches for various weapons.  Feel free to give me any ideas or thoughts!  All of my students are exceptional sources of insight!
